Luke A. Wissen, 29, of Streator passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022,
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Pallbearers will be his brothers, Zac, Austin and John Michael Benckendorf; uncle, Jeff Taylor; a cousin, Jeffrey Taylor; and his grandfather, Ken Davis.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Private family burial will be held at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
Born October 22, 1992 in Streator he was the son of Charles Wissen and Jeanette Taylor.
He was survived by his fiancé, Channah Mandrell of Streator; daughters, Kyra and Kenzie Wissen of Streator; his mother, Jeanette “Jenny” (Kevin Guthrie) Benckendorf of Streator; his father, Charles “Charlie” (Kelly Peacher) Wissen of Streator; maternal grandparents, Ken and Mary Davis of Streator; paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Wissen of Streator; sisters, Olivia (Jon) Zito of Streator and Alaina (Dewey Rice) Wissen of Streator; brothers, Zac Benckendorf of Santa Ana, California, Austin Benckendorf of Santa Ana, California and John Michael Benckendorf of Streator; nieces and nephews, Seth Zito, Caleb Rice, Derek Rice, Vivian Zito and Jenna Rice; aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Merel Taylor and his paternal grandfather, William Wissen.
Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 2011. He later received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Illinois Valley Community College.
He worked for the last 3 ½ years for the Pontiac Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and the Streator YMCA.
Luke loved golfing, working out at the YMCA and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed being a great father to his two girls.
Memorials may be directed to the family to establish a fund for his two daughters.
