Margaret Patricia “Pat” Flanigan, 95, of Streator passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at ARC of Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 11th, 2023 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 11th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial will be in Lostlands Cemetery in rural Streator.
Born August 27, 1928 in Streator, she was the daughter of Vincent and Margaret (Brown) Connell. She married Bernard Vincent Flanigan on September 14, 1950. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1981.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Jo Kindlesparker of Belvidere and Jane Flanigan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a son, Jeffrey (Karin) Flanigan of Streator; grandchildren, Amy and Nik Kindlesparker; Jacque Flanigan, Brock (Marisa) Flanigan, Trista (Joel) Westhafer, Heather (Logan) Park, Abby Flanigan and Jackson Flanigan; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a brother, Denny Connell of Streator; a sister, Sheila Hart of Wyoming; sister in law, Margaret “Peg” Snow of Streator and a daughter in law, Yvonne Flanigan of Effingham; nieces and nephews also survive.,
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jack Flanigan; children, Margaret Johanna and Joseph Curtis in infancy; grandsons, Aaron and Nathan Kindlesparker; son in law, Larry Kindlesparker; brothers and sisters in law, Bill Flanigan, Ed and Anne Jane Flanigan, Jim and Marilyn Flanigan, David Hart, Mary and Andy Kozak and Catherine Connell; and her step father, Philip Corcoran.
Pat lived in the Eagle Township and Streator areas her lifetime.
She worked through the years as a Registered Nurse for St. Mary’s Hospital in the Surgery and O.B. Departments. She also worked as a relief Nurse at Lipton Tea. In her retirement she worked as a statement lady at Union Bank.
She was a member of the former Annunciation Blessed Virgin of Mary Church at Eagle Township and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and in the Altar and Rosary Society of her church.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was also a past board member for the New Hope Pregnancy Center.
