Margaret M. Majernik, 105, of Streator passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the ARC of Streator.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Friday, September 12th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday, September 12th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.
Born January 10, 1920 in Streator, she was the daughter of Andrew and Susan (Churney) Elias. She married John A. Majernik on June 10, 1939 at St. Stephen’s Church, Streator. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2006.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Sue Lippe of Belvidere; sons, John (Barbara) Majernik of Belvidere, James Majernik of Sumner and Robert (Wanda) Majernik of Jefferson City, Missouri; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were sisters, Mary Grace Gula, Louise Hall, Dorothy Elias and Irene Reihl; and brothers, Edward and Robert Elias.
Born and raised in Streator, she attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.
She worked through the years as a secretary for an attorney’s office and later in the St. Stephen’s School Cafeteria.
She was a longtime member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was also a member of the Lady Bakers of the church who baked Rozek and other sweet treats to raise funds for the parish school.
Memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel School or O.S.F. Hospice.
