Obituary

  Marilyn J. Brownsey, 79, of Streator passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 in Streator.  

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 20th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.  Msgr. Brian Brownsey will officiate.  

  Visitation will be from 2-4 P.M. Sunday, February 19th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  The rosary will be recited afterwards at 4:00 P.M.   

  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

  Born June 21, 1943 in Streator, Marilyn was the daughter of Donald and Pauline (Lilja) Lux.  She married Keith Brownsey on June 23, 1962 at St. Anthony Church, Streator.   

  She is survived by her husband, Keith Brownsey of Streator; a daughter, Beth (Dale) Chalkey of Naperville; a son, Msgr. Brian Brownsey of Peoria; grandchildren, Austin (Tanya) Chalkey, Chelsea (Tanner) Schultz, Elliann Chalkey and Gracie Chalkey.   

  She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Betty Kaschak and Barbara Bradley.   

  Born and raised in Streator, she attended St. Anthony Grade School, and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1961.  She later graduated from the Peoria School of Beauty.   

  Marilyn was a hairdresser and operated a Beauty Shop out of her home for over 50 years, retiring when she was 75.   

  She was a longtime member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.  She was very active throughout the years with her church.  She was instrumental in starting the adult Bible Study and was a Bible Study leader for many years.  She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and visited the homebound.   

  A wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.

  The family would like to thank Marilyn’s caretakers, Shari Wonders and Brenda Kinkin, and the entire staff of Aces Homecare for their wonderful care.  They would also like to thank O.S.F. Hospice for the special care they gave.  

  Memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
