Marilyn A. Swanson, 86, of Streator, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the ARC in Streator.

  Private funeral services will be held at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in Allen Township Cemetery, Ransom.  Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

  Born December 31, 1937 in Streator, she was the daughter of Walter M. and Ann (Kachmar) Alberts. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Swanson, on December 30, 1961 at St. Stephen’s Church in Streator, IL.

  She is survived by her brother, Richard Alberts of Chicago; sisters-in-law Hazel Fellows of Streator, Harriet Koetz of Seneca and Jean Swanson of Ransom; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Helmar Swanson, Gerald Swanson, Gordon Fellows, Kenneth Shaffer, John Tobias and Walter Koetz; sisters-in-law Shelby Tobias and Mary Swanson.

  She was raised in Streator and attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and Streator High School. 

Marilyn studied nursing as a young woman and worked in various hospitals and health facilities over the years.

  Marilyn and her husband Kenneth farmed in the Ransom area their lifetime.  She was a kind and gentle soul and will be dearly missed by her loving family.
