Marit J. DeBlock Obituary

  Marit J. DeBlock, 91, of Streator passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Manor Court in Peru.


  Private family services will be held. 


  A Celebration of Life  for family and friends will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Streator.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.


  Born May 22, 1933 on a farm in Walnut, Illinois she was the daughter of Albert and Eva (Becknell) Wangelin.  She married Robert DeBlock on June 4, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kewanee, Illinois.


  She is survived by her husband, Robert J. DeBlock of Streator; sons, Alan (Mary) DeBlock of Troy, Illinois and Michael (Mary) DeBlock of Batavia; grandchildren, Rev. Fr. Matthew DeBlock of Batavia, Mark (Kristen) DeBlock of Batavia, David (Anita) DeBlock of St. Charles, Jennifer DeBlock, Jill (Scott) Thole of St. Rose and Julie DeBlock of Highland; great grandchildren, Ellie and Michael DeBlock; Mackenzie and Ava Klein and Elsie Thole; and Tatum DeBlock.


  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer and Jack Wangelin; and sisters, Joyce Lubbs, Joan Hard and Diane Anderson.


  She graduated from Red Oak country grade school and Walnut High School in the class of 1951.  She attended St. Frances Hospital of Nursing in Kewanee and graduated in the class of 1954.  She also worked at the Hospital for several years.


  She was employed at Oakland Park School for several years as a Cafeteria Server.


  She belonged to St. Frances Alumni in Kewanee and St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Streator.
