Martha M. Geary

Martha M. “Marty” Geary, 70, of Streator passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at O.S.F. St. James Medical Center in Pontiac.

Private graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born August 18, 1950 in Girard, Kansas she was the daughter of Glenn and Matilda (McGill) Michael. She married William J. Geary on June 13, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Cornell.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Geary of Streator; a daughter, Donna (Justin) Walker of Streator; sons, Tim (Nicole) Geary of Streator and Ron (Cori) Geary of Streator; grandchildren, Tristen Geary, Sadie Geary, Chelsey Geary, Jordan Geary and Maranda Barnett; great grandchildren, Damon Geary and Novalyn Carter; a sister, Jerry Lynn (Bob) West of Streator; brothers, Dennis Michael of Streator, Barry Michael of Streator, Glenn (Sandy) Michael of Streator and Patrick Michael of Cisne; and very good friends, Patty Long and Pat Mann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Hombaker; brothers, Garry, Larry and Terry Michael; and a sister in law, Janeen Michael.

Martha was raised in the Ransom and Cornell areas. She attended Ransom, Cornell and Grand Ridge Grade Schools and Streator High School.

Martha worked for St. Mary’s Hospital through the years and retired as a Patient Registration clerk. She was also and EMT and taught EMT classes. She was of the Methodist faith.

She loved animals of all kinds and cared for many cats through the years. She also loved Celtic Thunder.
