Martha Roth Obituary

Martha A. Roth, 98, of Streator passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Care in Flanagan, Illinois.

Private Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.

The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born August 18, 1922 in Albia, Iowa she was the daughter of John and Mary (Bakalar) Sereg. She married Joseph Roth on June 1, 1944. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2005.

She is survived by a daughter, Cecelia Kendall of St. Louis, Missouri; a son, Anthony (Merry Ann) Roth of Armington, Illinois; grandchildren, Lisa, Patrick, Lynn and Thomas; great grandchildren, Dylan, Logan and Sam; a brother, Nick Sereg of Streator; a sister, Mathilda “Tillie” Stasko; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Michael Roth; brothers, George, Albert and Paul; and sisters, Mary, Helen, Agnes and Sophia.

Born and raised in Albia, Iowa she attended Albia schools and graduated Albia High School.

She was a homemaker through the years.

She was a longtime member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Martha was very musically talented and she played the violin, piano and guitar. She was a member of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. She enjoyed all things in nature including rock collecting and gardening. She also loved going to rummage sales and playing Bingo.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Flanagan Rehabilitation Center’s Activity Fund.
