Marvin E. Jones

  Marvin E. Jones, 61, of Streator passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023 at O. S. F. St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Bloomington.

  Funeral Services will be at 12:00 P.M. Friday, June 30th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

 Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M Friday, June 30th at Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator.

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral services.

  Born September, 25, 1961, he was the son of Willie Mae Jefferson and Freddie B. Upshaw. He married Linda Washington -Jones on February 11, 2012 in Streator.

  He is survived by his wife; daughters, Shayla and Alysha Washington of Streator; son, Marlin (Kelly) Washington of Frankfort; grandchildren, Da’Monei Washington of Streator, Maykayla and Maddox Washington of Frankfort and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Dorthea Barnes; his adopted brother, Gerald Bumper; grandchildren, Kobe, Kyrie, Anari Haynes, Avouna Johnson and Elliot Washington. 

  Born in Marks, Mississippi, he attended several grade schools and received his GED in 1980.  Marvin also served four years in the Army Reserves at Fort Dickinson, New Jersey.

 He was employed at E. J. McKernen for eleven years. 

  Marvin truly loved life.  He enjoyed helping anyone who needed help.  He truly loved his family.  He loved to lift others spirits when they needed it.  He loved to play his music and socialize with friends.

  Marvin will truly be missed, not only by his family, but also by those whose lives he came in contact with.
