Born on April 12, 1960, in Streator, Illinois, Mary was a light in the lives of all who knew her—warm, compassionate, and endlessly devoted to her family and friends.

Mary graduated from Marquette High School in 1978, and from there, she began a remarkable 37-year career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Streator. As a Day Supervisor in the Dietary Department, Mary exemplified dedication and kindness, touching the lives of patients and colleagues alike with her steady presence, tireless work ethic, and thoughtful spirit. She was more than a coworker; she was a friend and confidante to many who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mary lived a life filled with simple yet profound joys. Her love of reading transported her to faraway worlds and offered her endless comfort. Her kitchen was a sanctuary, where the aroma of her baking would draw family and friends together, each treat infused with her love. Above all, her heart belonged to her family. She found her greatest joy in their laughter, their shared adventures, and in the enduring bond that kept them close. Those cherished annual trips to Michigan were more than a tradition—they were a tapestry of memories woven with laughter, love, and the unmistakable magic of her presence.

As a mother, Mary was nothing short of extraordinary. She was the steady hand, the gentle voice, and the unwavering source of love and guidance for her children, Sara and Joey. She took immense pride in their accomplishments, big and small, and reveled in their happiness. To her grandchildren, Marek and Maxim, she was a beloved Nana, a source of endless love, and a reminder of life’s most precious gifts.

Mary is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Sullivan, and her brother, Timothy Sullivan, both of Streator. She is survived by her loving mother, Marjorie Sullivan of Ottawa; her devoted daughter, Sara (Matt) MacRoy, and her treasured grandchildren, Marek and Maxim MacRoy, of Temple, Texas; her son, Joey Malek (Megan Johnson, fiancé), of Asheville, North Carolina; her brothers, Thomas (Elizabeth) Sullivan of Varna, James (Kathy) Sullivan of Ottawa; and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Sullivan of Streator. Her memory will also be cherished by her extended family and the countless friends who were fortunate to experience her love and generosity.

A memorial service to honor Mary’s beautiful life will take place on May 2, 2025, with details to be announced. Cremation rites have been accorded. The family requests that memorial donations be made to "For the Love of Pets" animal rescue, reflecting Mary’s lifelong affection for animals and her tender heart for all creatures. Condolences may be left for the family at www.solontelford.com, and those wishing to send flowers may do so through the Solon-Telford Flower Store.

Mary’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have supported them during this season of loss.

Our beloved Mary, our Mom, our Nana, was the embodiment of love and grace. Her legacy is one of selflessness, quiet strength, and a profound capacity for joy. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and eternally remembered. In the words that so deeply resonate with her life, “The love we leave behind is the legacy we share.”

Rest peacefully, Mom. Your kindness, your laughter, and your love have left this world brighter, and your light will never fade.
