Mary P. Poruba, 85, of Streator passed away Monday, January 5, 2025 at the ARC of Streator.

  Private graveside services will be held.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born September 16, 1940 in Streator she was the daughter of Thomas and Helen (Rubis) Grennan.  She married John J. Poruba on August 29, 1959.  He preceded her in death on January 24, 2017.

  She is survived by a daughter, Melanie (William) Lawless of Streator; sons, Mark (Vickie) Poruba of Savoy and Michael (Tina) Poruba of Oswego; grandchildren, Luke and Isabel Poruba; and Megan Luttrell.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Thomas Grennan and Leo (Cheri) Grennan; and sisters, Roberta (Eli) Koral and Helen (Albert) Johnston.

  Born and raised in Streator she attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School.  She also attended Illinois Valley Community College.

  After raising her family Mary became a realtor and worked for Hart Realty for many years until her retirement.

  She was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

  The most important thing to Mary was her loving family. She will be dearly missed.

  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
