Mary L. Redmen, 99, of Streator passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Anne Ferguson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Burial will be in Grand Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
Born July 6, 1921 in Streator she was the daughter of John and Mary (Staver) Noonan. She married Samuel L. Redmen on September 27, 1945 in Louisville, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2008.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynne Amenda of Streator; sons, Randy Redmen of Ottawa, Dale Redmen of Varna and Gene Redmen; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, John “Jack” Noonan and her son in law, Mark Amenda.
Born and raised in Streator she attended Streator grades schools and graduated from Streator High School in 1938. She later attended Browns Business School.
Through the years she worked as a secretary for Streator Brick and Elmer Mohan Law Offices. She later worked for Oakland Park and Northlawn schools in the cafeteria. She also worked for Woody’s Drive-In and Guzzardo’s Hallmark.
She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Streator. She was a member of the Methodist Women and served as the secretary. She was also a member of the Garden Club and served as the treasurer. Through the years she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and also was the President of Streator’s Girl Scouts.
