Mary Wiesbrock Obituary

Mary V. Wiesbrock, 94, of Streator passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care, Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Leonore. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M.

Burial will be in Lostlands Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeremy Wiesbrock, Bob Cox, Bill Gillette Jr., Jim Wiesbrock Jr., Steve Cox and Paul Wiesbrock. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Tom Wiesbrock, Jim Cox and Dan Cox.

Born December 3, 1924 in Streator she was the daughter of Ervin and Edna (Whalen) Schmitt. She married Wilfred G. Wiesbrock on October 12, 1946 at Annunciation B.V.M. Church at Eagle. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2011.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet (William) Gillette of Streator; sons, William (Charlotte) Wiesbrock of Streator and James (Theresa) Wiesbrock of Granville; a son in law, Raymond Cox of Streator; 16 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Ruth (Wiesbrock) Cox; a granddaughter, Katie (Wiesbrock) Larios; and a brother, Norbert Schmitt.

Mary lived her lifetime in the Eagle Township area.

She was a long time member of Annunciation B.V.M. Church at Eagle and currently belonged to Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Leonore. A devout Catholic, Mary was a very active member of her church who was always helping out in any way that she could. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and also volunteered as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister.

She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a C.N.A. and was also a pie baker at the Fireside Restaurant through the years.

She was always thinking of others first and was a caretaker for many people in need.

She was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and volunteered for many functions at the K of C. She was also a 4-H Volunteer.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always had cookies, pies and a full candy jar for her family. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the family’s choice.
