Mattie F. Mowers, 88, of Streator passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at the ARC of Streator.

  Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Monday, January 12th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 

  Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.. Monday, January 12th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 

  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator.  Cremation rites have been accorded. 

  Born July 25, 1937 in Bellefontaine, Mississippi she was the daughter of Ralph and Connie (Hays) McKee.  She married Gene P. Mowers on July 29, 1957.  He preceded her in death in 2008.

  She is survived by daughters, Janet Bachman of Springfield and Amy (Damon) Neiggemann of Streator; sons, Dwayne (Linda) Mowers of Morton, Mark (Lee Ann) Mowers of Pekin and Erick (Robin) Mowers of Paducah, Kentucky; grandchildren, Ryan Hopkins of Colorado, Melody Noorman of Bloomington, Evan Hopkins of Bloomington, Matthew Mowers of Morton, Allan Mowers of Morton, Zoe (Joel) Thorson of Chicago, Elly Mowers of Paducah, Kentucky and Lindsey (Lealan) Buehrer of Morton; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Myra (Carl) West of Kangley, Iris (Ken) Fulkerson of Bloomington, Sue Knight of Bellefontaine, Mississippi and Ella Moore of Eupora, Mississippi; a brother, Floyd (Jeannie) McKee of California; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

  She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brothers, Henry and William McKee.

  Born and raised in Bellefontaine, Mississippi she attended local grade schools and graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1957.  She has been in Streator since the early 1950’s.

  Primarily a homemaker through the years she also worked as a Seamstress.  Mattie also very much enjoyed gardening.  She will be sadly missed by her loving family. 

  Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
