Maurice W. “Maurie” Henderson, 98, of Streator passed away Monday (November 18, 2024) at the ARC of Streator.

 Funeral services will be held at Noon, Saturday (November 23, 2024) at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator with Rev. Paul Arnold, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM-Noon Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator.

 Mr. Henderson was born December 9, 1925 in Minier, Illinois, the son of Cecil Clarence and Estelle (Bratcher) Henderson.

 He married Marietta Schmitz on April, 26, 1946 in Lostant. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2021.

 Maurie had been employed as a concrete truck driver for several Streator companies prior to his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Streator. He was the former President of the Streator Lions Club and had also been a member of the Elks and Moose Clubs.

 Following retirement he spent every morning at Anderson Fields Golf Course. Winters were spent in Haines City, Florida where he was an avid shuffleboard player. He was a naturally happy person and loved life. His biggest joy was his grandchildren; he was a Henderson legend and will live in our hearts forever.

 He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Henderson, of Streator; three sons, Robert (Mary) Henderson of Pekin, Terry (Kay) Henderson of Foley, Alabama and Michael M. (Marcia) Henderson of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; a grandson Scott Henderson; sisters, Eileen Reed and Rosemary Hagerty; brothers, Marvin and Robert Henderson.

 Pallbearers will be Daniel, Jeff, Michael J. Henderson, Kevin, David, Martin Reed and Trey Stillwell.

 Memorials may be made to the Illinois Elks Children’s Care.
