Michael E. “Mike” James, 72, of Bloomington and formerly of Streator passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, Illinois.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 11th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Wednesday, December 11th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Wood American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born June 4, 1952 in Streator he was the son of John “Jesse” and Marcella (Puskar) James.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley (Andy) Eckel of Pontiac and Mary Lou (Rich) Senko of Streator; a sister in law, Joyce James of Streator; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and brother in law, Sharon and Bill Bruggemann; and a brother, Robert “Jesse” James.
Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School. Following High School he served in the United States Air Force.
He worked through the years as a truck driver and for the Illinois State Highway Department. He later worked for Illinois State University in Maintenance for over 20 years from where he retired.
He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Central Illinois Word worker’s Association.
Mike was a talented wood worker and enjoyed fishing.
