Michael C. Klachko Obituary

  Michael C. Klachko, 74, of Streator passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at O.S.F. St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.


  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 26th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.


  Visitation will be from 8:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 26th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  The rosary will be recited at 8:15 A.M.


  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.


  Born February 9, 1951 in Streator he was the son of Clarence and Cecilia (Klein) Klachko.


  He is survived by sisters, Dianne (Bill) Arbogast of Normal, Karen (Brian) Thompson of Heyworth and Marie (Terry) Stevens of Ransom; nieces and nephews, Jason (Sharon) Hogan of Palo Alto, California, Michelle (Andy) Baragona of McKinney, Texas, Kelsey Thompson of McKinney, Texas, Keith (Mindy) Stevens of Streator, Stephen (Jennifer) Arbogast of Washington and Christine (Marc) White of Bloomington; 12 great nieces and nephews also survive.


  He was preceded in death by his parents.


  Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1969.  He graduated from Illinois State University in 1974.


  Through the years, he worked for Owens-Illinois Glass Company and Burns Security.  He co-founded J & M Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning.  He later taught and coached for Streator and Heyworth High Schools.  He has worked the last 32 years as a Software Engineer at State Farm in Bloomington.


  He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.  He was also a member of the Streator Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the Streatorland Historical Society.  Mike was proud of his Slovak heritage and being a Streator native.  He was an avid supporter of his nieces and nephews activities, and ISU Redbirds including attending Homecoming for 50 years with family and life-long friends.  He enjoyed snow skiing, Jimmy Buffett songs, and was always ready to tell or hear a good story.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.


  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel Church or Streatorland Historical Society.
