Michael L. Renner Sr.

Michael L. Renner Sr., 79, of Streator passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate. Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Small will concelebrate.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator, with the rosary recited at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Tony, Joe and Nicki Renner, Jason Augustine, Matt Scarbeary and Michael Muntz. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Molly Muntz, Luke and Laney Renner, Olivia, Max and Jack Starkey and great grandchildren, Caria and Christian Bruton, Jax and Jaimison Renner.

Mr. Renner was born January 11, 1938 in Streator, the son of Michael and Margaret (Marcin) Renner. He married Jean Armstrong on July 11, 1959 at St. Stephen’s Church. She survives.

Mike had been employed for 41 years as a printer at the Time-Press, retiring in 2002. He also owned the former Book Shelf, and was a former caretaker of St. Stephen’s Cemetery, all of Streator. He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus, Streator.

He attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and was a graduate of Woodland High School.

Mike was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and Notre Dame Football.

He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and working in his yard. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, three daughters, Kay (Mike) Simmons, Bess (Jim) Muntz and Anne (Joe) Starkey, one son Mike (Rhonda) Renner Jr. Chillicothe, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one sister, Mary (Larry) Brown, Sugar Grove and one brother, Ken Renner, Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
