On September 16, 2022, at the age of 72, Nancy Edmonds went home to Heaven, surrounded by her loving family, in Billings, MT, after battling a long illness.
Memorial services will be at 12:00 P.M. Saturday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Nancy was born on May 24, 1950, in Streator, IL. She was the daughter of Martin and Marilyn (Lorey) Nimke, and mother of Nicky and Matt. She was a 1968 graduate of Woodland High School and went on to receive a master’s degree in music from Southern Illinois University.
During her life in Streator, she was most fondly known for her presence on the stage at Engle Lane Theater. In fact, from 1968 to 2005, Nancy was involved in 68 performances at Engle Lane. It was truly her second home. She was also well known for her work at First State Bank in Streator, and her active participation at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Nancy could bring a smile to anyone’s face, no matter the circumstance. She was incredibly loving, and happy to share the Word of God with anyone who would listen.
Nancy married Joe Dzurisin in 1986 at St. Paul’s. He has preceded her in death. Nancy then reconnected with Allan Edmonds, whom she met during confirmation classes, and the two fell in love and were married in 2005 at St. Paul’s. Shortly after, Nancy moved with her husband to Billings, MT, where she lived for the past 18 years.
Nan loved her time spent in her cabin on the ranch in Billings. In fact, she excelled at chopping the firewood! She performed with Venture Theatre, and ministered to women in prison, along with the group she formed, known as “The Bobby Socks”. Show tunes and church hymns were always her favorites to sing.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Marilyn and Martin Nimke, husband Joe Dzurisin, and her eldest brother, Marti (Pat) Nimke.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Allan Edmonds, children, Nichole Keesee of Streator, Matthew (Amy) Hastings of Plainfield, and stepson D.R. Edmonds of Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by siblings Karle (Barbara) Nimke, of Coeur d’Alene, ID, Jenifer (Jack) Knudtson of Ottawa, and Fred Nimke of Streator. Also surviving are her grandchildren Reinier, of Streator, and Mason, Tannon, and Nadia of Plainfield. She had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, who loved her dearly.
As Nan often said, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24.
