Norma "Norma Jean" Bickford, 66, of Streator passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at O.S.F. Center for Health – Streator.

  Private services will be held at a later date.  Cremation rites will be accorded.

  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park.

  Born on August 14, 1957 in Chicago, she was the daughter of Albert A. and Irene (Kujawa) Kara.  She married Albert Bickford on October 4, 1975 in Chicago.  He preceded her in death.

  Norma is survived by her loving niece, Michelle Kara of Chicago; her cherished sisters, Doris Gipson and Jackie French; thirteen children and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  She is also survived by numerous close friends including Jaime Gutierrez and Kathy Stash who were very good to Norma. These family members and friends will forever remember Norma's free spirit and her empathetic nature, keeping her memory alive within their hearts.

  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert Bickford, whom she missed dearly; her parents; her sisters Rose Kara, Alberta Welch, Judy Schallmo, Jeanette Burnett and Debra Diaz.  From her parents, Albert and Irene Kara, Norma inherited her kind and loving nature, and it is comforting to know that she is now reunited with them and her other predeceased family members.

  Norma was a brilliantly vibrant character, identified and remembered as a free spirit who believed in love above all else.  Known by many as Norma Jean, she preferred to be called Norma, a name that became synonymous with warmth, kindness, and generosity. Norma was a beacon of light to those around her, teaching us the most valuable lesson of all - to love without limits or conditions.

  In memory of Norma, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love and compassion. As we say our last goodbyes, we commemorate not just a life that ended, but more importantly, a life that was lived to the fullest. Let's remember her radiant smile, her infectious laughter, and the love she freely shared with all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

  In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised to help with Norma's funeral expenses.
