Norman Sedlock Obituary

Norman E. Sedlock, 61, of Streator passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at his sister’s home in Streator surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Praise Center Church in Ottawa. Rev. Raymond Mitchell will officiate.

Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Monday at the church. Pallbearers will be his brothers, Daniel Sedlock Jr. and Bill Sedlock; brothers-in-law, Lou Hancin and Mark Painter; and family friends, Jeff Lamango and Kiefer Moore. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Private family burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.

The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born November 4, 1959 in Streator he was the son of Daniel Sr., and Norma (Allen) Sedlock.

He is survived by his daughter, Destiny Sedlock of Chicago; sons, Daniel (Rebekah) Sedlock of Earlville and Ryan Sedlock of Sycamore; sisters, Teresa (Mark) Painter of Bloomington, Sheryl Sedlock of Streator and Christina (Lou) Hancin of Streator; brothers, Daniel Jr. (Elva) Sedlock of Harvard and Bill (Irene) Sedlock of Streator; and the mother of his children, Linda Tomany of Piedmont, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tony Sedlock and a sister, Cathy Salisbury.

Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools and graduated from Streator High School, Class of 1977.

He worked for the Sheridan Correctional Center for 29 years retiring in 2009 with the rank of Lieutenant. After his retirement, Norm worked several part-time jobs to stay busy including Anderson Field Golf Course, School Bus Driver for Wallace Grade School and Buffalo Range Shooting Park where he was a Range Safety Officer. He was currently serving on the LaSalle County Board.

Norm was a long-time and vital member of Praise Center Church in Ottawa, IL. He

was involved in leadership as a deacon with specific responsibilities in Missions.
He was also a co-leader in the Junior High Youth Group, Making a Difference (M.A.D.) for Jesus.

Norm was one of the many volunteer construction crew members that helped build the
church as it now stands.

Norm was also involved in distributing free Bibles as a part of The Gideon’s International to help transform lives through the Word of God.

In his free time, Norm enjoyed going to Auctions looking for good deals and even helped out, at times, with Brown’s Auctions. He loved golfing and was a participant in the Praise Center Golf Team and a number of the Richard J. Berry Memorial Men's City Golf Championships in Streator. He also looked forward to riding his motorcycle each year. Norm had a gift for telling a good story and kept his sense of humor even through difficult times. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
