Paul Nicholson Obituary

  Paul C. Nicholson, 77, of Streator passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. 

  Cremation rites will be accorded.  There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born April 17, 1945 in DeKalb, he was the son of Collin Heath “C.H.” and Dorothy (Jacobson) Nicholson.  He married Paulette Vida on October 7, 1978 in Sycamore, Illinois.

  He is survived by his wife, Paulette Nicholson of Streator; daughters, Kiersten Nicholson of Champaign and Cathy (Stephen) Mintz of Leland, North Carolina; grandchildren, Abby (Matt) Hall of North Carolina, Hunter Mintz at home, Jacob Mintz at home; sisters, Nancy (Mike) Faser of Cape Coral, Florida and Susan (Rob) Muculley of Texas and a brother, Doug (Robin) Nicholson of Alaska.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Georgia Gosnell.

  He was raised in Lee, Illinois and attended Lee Grade Schools.  He graduated from Shabbona High School.  He later attended Northern Illinois University where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Political Science.

  He served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1967-1968.

  His career in City Management spanned 40 years serving many municipalities in Illinois including DeKalb, Western Springs, Barrington, Charleston and Streator.  He was well known in all of the communities where he worked.

  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

  Memorials may be directed to NIU Foundation/MPA or the First United Methodist Church in Streator.
