Paul J. Strack, 68, of Tonica passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 9th at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Leonore. Fr. Jeffery Small will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, January 8th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 5:00 P.M.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Leonore. Pallbearers will be his grandson, Hunter Strack; nephews, David Campbell, Bruce Cook, Bob Jakupcak Jr., Chris McCormick and a good friend, Julius Skinner. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Strack, Mike Hansen and Tyler Thompson.
Born March 8, 1954 in Streator he was the son of Edward and Kathryn (Eirich) Strack. He married Debra Jakupcak on April 19, 1975 at Immaculate Conception Church in Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Strack of Tonica; sons, Paul (Rebecca) Strack of Princeton, Steve (Megan) Strack of Tonica and Joe Strack of Streator; grandchildren, Hunter Strack, Hannah Strack, Mary Kathryn Strack and Grace Strack; sisters, Theresa McCormick of Grand Ridge, Trudy Cook of Streator and Mary Ellen (William) Campbell of Birchwood, Wisconsin; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Strack.
He attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School and Eagle School. He later graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1972.
He worked through the years for Streator Farm Mart, Safranski Excavating and Feken Trucking as an Operator. He also farmed in LaSalle County for all of his lifetime.
He was a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau, Streator Elk’s Club and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Paul and his three sons were never far apart. They enjoyed farming, working with their cattle and various other activities through the years together. He also enjoyed tinkering with his 1947 Ford and his beloved dog, Josie whom he loved very much. He was a hardworking man who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, American Kidney Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.
