Ralph Dwain Holt

Ralph D. “Dwain” Holt, 68, of Richmond Michigan formerly of Streator passed away Friday May 21st, 2021 at McLaren Hospital in Port Huron surrounded by his family who shared great memories, said prayers and passed along their love to him.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday June 4th, 2021 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday June 5th, 2021 at Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Dwain was born October 15th, 1952 in Streator. He was the son of Ralph and Halga (Charles) Holt. He was a brother to Mildred Overocker of Streator and Deborah (Tom) Burns of Streator.

Dwain attended Woodland High school. During his senior year he met Sherry Burash. After graduating High school, he was drafted into the Army. Once boot camp was finished he and Sherry got married and spent a year in Germany where he was stationed with the Army.

Returning home, Dwain and Sherry began a family. They had Alan Holt of Streator, Thomas Holt of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and Kaaren (Charles) Schoof of Richmond Michigan. He was the best grandpa to 9 grandchildren (Graham, Jacob, Kendall, Emilee, Wyatt, Maximus, Charlie, Evalynn, and Ellenore)

Dwain worked for US Foodservice for 30 plus years as a truck driver. He was a pastor for Communities of Christ Church for many years. He always had a great story to tell and could fix anything. He was the best popcorn maker and was a big music/movie lover. He was a grill master at heart. He loved being a veteran and serving his country. He had integrity and a passion for all things in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He was survived by his wife Sherry Holt of Richmond, Michigan, children and grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but they know he is rocking that grill in Heaven.
