Ralph E. Wargo, 93, of Streator passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Chris Irwin, Ryan Irwin, Matt Eurich, Kelly Eurich-Luna; and nephews, Jerry Seaman and Bill Seaman. Third degree members of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council
#790 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born October 14, 1924 in Streator he was the son of John and Mary (Katchmar) Wargo. He married Nellie M. Lutz on October 3, 1953 at St. Mary’s Church in Wenona. She survives in Streator.
He is also survived by daughters, Janice (Jim) Irwin of Normal and Julie (Keith) Eurich of Streator; grandchildren, Christopher (Stacy) Irwin of Bloomington, Ryan (Jennifer) Irwin of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kelly (Jose) Eurich-Luna of Bloomington and Matthew Eurich of Streator; great grandchildren, McKensi Irwin, Addison Irwin, Grace Irwin, Reagan Irwin, Jackson Irwin, McKinley Irwin, Olivia Luna and Brayden Luna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Wargo; a sister, Louise Clayton and a great granddaughter, Sophia Luna.
Born and raised in Streator Ralph attended St. Stephen’s Grade School, Streator High School and Browns Business College.
He worked at Streator Furniture early on and then worked for Streator Brick in the Payroll Department for 13 years. He later worked for Streator National Bank/First Midwest Bank in the Real Estate and Payroll Departments for 25 years until his retirement.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. He was also a long time member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790. He volunteered with the Streator Food Pantry for over 20 years and served as the Treasurer and Board member. He also volunteered for the Literary Program and served as a counselor at Senior Health Insurance.
Memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator Food Pantry or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
