Raymond B. Danko

  It is with both tears of sorrow and smiles of remembrance that we announce the passing of Raymond B Danko, 91, of Streator on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in LaSalle.

  Visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM Thursday, June 25th at the Solon Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 AM Thursday, June 25th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

  Burial will be at Saint Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Full military rights will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods, American Legion Post 217, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and the Long Point American Legion Post 1217.

  Born July 13, 1934 in Streator, he was the son of John and Emma (Wargo) Danko. He married Marla Mae Bute on November 1, 1958 at Saint Stephen’s Church, Streator. She preceeded him in death on March 19, 2020.

  He is survived by daughters Lisa (Garry) Spivey of Spring Grove, Illinois; Lori Siadek of Manhattan, Illinois and Linda (Jeffry) Williams of Streator; grandchildren Ryan Spivey, Aaron Spivey, Ashley, (Robert) Bonelli, Adam Siadek, Kaitlyn Siadek, Spencer Williams, great grandchild Nicholas ‘Nico’ Bonelli, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

  Ray was a graduate of Saint Stephen’s Grade School in 1948 and graduated from Streator High School in 1952.

  He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1958 and was stationed at Vaihingen, Germany.  His military duties were in the Army Post Office. Ray loved the German food, the beer, the beautiful countryside and would fondly reminisce of his time there to anyone who would listen.

  After being honorably discharged from the military, Ray worked for Anthony Body Company in Streator, followed by General Telephone Electric ‘GTE’ until his retirement in 1996.

  His hobbies included fishing, woodworking, gardening, tinkering, and listening to music. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and his motto was “if there’s a way-there’s Ray!”

   Proceeding Ray in death were his parents; his wife, Marla; brothers Louis, John, Clarence ‘Tadpole’, and Dennis; and son-in-law Gerald ‘Jerry’ Siadek.

  He was a member of the former Saint Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to Saint Michael the Archangel Church. He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790.

  Ray will always be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, strong work ethic and his faithfulness.

  Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
