Jerome Feeley Smith, born on September 9, 1958, grew up in Lombard, Illinois, was a Roman Catholic priest and a United States Navy Chaplain.

Jerome (known as “Jerry” by his family and friends) spent his early years as a member of the Chicago Board Options Exchange.  He transitioned to the priesthood during his early 30s where he earned a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Divinity Studies before being ordained as a Catholic priest by the Peoria Diocese during December 1996.   Father Smith served as pastor with the Peoria Catholic Diocese and taught high school students at Marquette Academy in Ottawa, Illinois.  In 2002, Father Smith joined the U.S Navy as a commissioned officer in the Chaplain Corps where he served on sea duty in the Far East.

With prayers for Father Jerome Smith’s eternal rest, the Smith Family thanks God for the gift of his life, his vocation to the Catholic Church, for the way he loved and cared for those less fortunate, and for his immense love for the Blessed Mother and the Rosary.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents William J. and Mary B. Smith; and his brother, baby William Smith (birth 1944).

He is survived by siblings Gregory (Kaye) Smith, William Smith (birth 1945), Mary Louise Davis, Barbara (Jon) Morgan, Patricia (Casey) Noxon, Thomas (Margret) Smith, James Smith, Colleen (Thomas) LaMantia, and Robert (Boni) Smith.  Jerome has many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and a family of friends.
