Richard Miller Obituary

  Richard L. Miller, 92, of rural Streator passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Goldwater Care in Pontiac, Illinois.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday, March 15th at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Friday, March 15th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. 

  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.  Pallbearers will be, Mitchell Miller, Alex Miller, Nicholas Hodges, Andy Mills, Jake Orr and Tyler Rossman.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Ottawa American Legion Post #33.

  Born January 19, 1932 in rural Streator he was the son of Richard G. and Dorothy (LeRoy) Miller. 

  He is survived by a daughter, Victoria (Mark) Hodges of Arizona; sons, Michael (Lori) Miller of Long Point, Jacob (Tara) Miller of Long Point, David Miller of Princeton and Eugene (Christie) Miller of Rutland; grandchildren, Jessica Miller of San Diego, California, Alex (Megan) Miller of Streator, Xochitl (Matt) Daly of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Elizabeth (Andy) Mills of Niceville, Florida, Alexis Miller of Streator, Adriann Miller of Streator, Nicholas Hodges of Ames, Iowa, Mitchell Miller of Madison, Wisconsin, Jaden (Jake) Orr of Streator, Regina Miller of El Paso, Megan Miller of Arizona and Leah (Tyler) Rossman of Flanagan; great grandchildren, Charlotte Ann Miller, Beckett and Owen Daly; Bella Cecilia Mills, Veda Luella Mills and Tatum Mitchell Orr; a sister, Mary Lou Mitchell of Ottawa and a sister in law, Joan Miller of Streator; many nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roderick “Rod” Miller; a granddaughter, Rachel Ann Miller; sisters, Patsy Wesmorland and Betty Stewart; and a brother, Charles “Chuck” Miller.

  Born in rural Streator at the family home he graduated from Long Point High School.

  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, remaining lifelong friends with several of his former servicemen.

  Richard farmed his lifetime in the rural Streator and Long Point areas, raising crops and beef cattle. He continued to play an active role with his son/grandson, who will continue to keep his passion of farming along with his collecting of antique Minneapolis Moline tractors. He also spent many years delivering milk, working in the trucking industry, custom farm work for farmers in the area, and a top salesman for Archer Oil.

   Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
