Richard Alband Mohan Richard Alband Mohan, 88, of Hoffman Estates, formerly from Streator, passed away on August 28, 2010.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Thursday at St. Anthony's Church, 407 South Park Street, Streator, Illinois.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Streator. Full military rites will be conducted at graveside by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Richard was the beloved husband of Norma Helen Pflibsen Mohan and loving father of John Mohan (Lori) of Schaumburg, Robert Mohan (Michon) of Montgomery and Daniel Mohan (Jean) of La Grange. He was also the caring grandfather of six grandchildren: Doug; Scott; Jay; Kerry; Packy and Jimmy Mohan.
A 1940 graduate of Streator High School, he was an athlete serving as a track 100-yard dash sprinter (10.3 seconds), a football left halfback and a basketball player under the legendary "Pops" Dale. A lifelong golfer, he played in many Streator tournaments and was a member of the "Hole in One" club.
Richard received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois. After serving in World War II, he attended the U of I Law School under the G.I. Bill. He also taught freshman English at the U of I while attending law school.
During World War II, he crossed Europe as part of Patton's Third Army, commanded an anti-tank platoon in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star for valor.
Richard was an attorney in Streator for over 50 years, initially working with his father, J.J. Mohan, in his real estate and insurance business and later forming a law partnership with his brother, John J. Mohan, Jr. He was a former LaSalle County Assistant State's Attorney and Streator City Attorney. He had been a Democratic Party candidate for both Congress and the Judiciary.
He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity in college and, more recently, a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Kiwanis Past President, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, LaSalle County and Illinois Bar Associations and the VFW.
He was a quiet man of deep conviction, a considerate leader and example, a patient, encouraging guide and a fierce protector of his family, which always came first, always.
