Richard F. “Flip” Pflibsen, 67, of Streator passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. The rosary will be recited at 6:45 P.M.
Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be family members.
Born February 3, 1955 in Streator he was the son of Eugene and Shirley (Amos) Pflibsen.
He is survived by a son, Doug (Corie) Pflibsen of Derby, Kansas; grandchildren, Alyssa Pflibsen of Mitchell, South Dakota and Lucas Pflibsen of Derby, Kansas; his mother, Shirley Thomas of Streator; sisters, Peggy (Randy) Witte of Cincinnati, Ohio and Kathy Meis of Urbana; a brother, David Pflibsen of Streator; a step-sister, Sally (Rick) Renner of Mackinaw; step-brothers, Jack (Janice) Thomas of Streator and Gary (Sandy) Thomas of Wenona; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephew including his niece, Natasha Pflibsen of Streator with whom he shared a special bond.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Pflibsen; brothers, Tom Pflibsen and Frederick “Rick” Pflibsen; his step-father, Jack Thomas; maternal grandparents, Bruce and Laurine Amos; and paternal grandparents, Fred and Margaret Pflibsen.
Raised in Streator he attended Streator grade schools and Streator High School.
He worked as an Operating Engineer out of Local 150 Union Hall for many years.
He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Streator.
Flip was an avid sports fan and he loved the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed playing Euchre and having the occasional Budweiser. He enjoyed fishing, camping and walks in the park. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.
