Rita A. Blasco

Rita Ann (Fedor) Blasco, 90, passed away December 17, 2020 at her home in Streator.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.

Born April 8, 1930 in Streator, she was the daughter of Albert and Mary (Salata) Fedor. While working as a teller at Union National Bank, Streator, she noticed a handsome teller with dark hair whose name was Alvin J. Blasco. They married on September 30, 1961. He passed away on July 27, 2018.

She was a graduate of St. Stephen’s Grade School and a 1948 graduate of Streator High School.

She is survived her by her children, Carolyn, David (Denny Eaton), Ellen (Denny Vogel), and Brian. She is also survived by three grandchildren and an extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband.

She was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently of St. Michael the Archangel Church. Over the years she was active with St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, Callere Club, and previously was employed at Union National Bank.

Music was an important part of her life and she sang for many years with the Choralaires, a choral group under the direction of Dr. William C. Schiffbauer. She also was active at Engle Lane Theatre where she performed on stage, assisted with make-up and costumes, and managed the ticket office. For her volunteerism, she received the William C. Schiffbauer Memorial Award in 1991.
