Robert A. Barr

Robert A. “Bob” Barr, 83, of Streator passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Accolade HealthCare in Pontiac.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Born December 8, 1937 in Streator he was the son of Harold and Anna (Bakalar) Barr. He married Kathryn “Kate” Kling on May 5, 1965 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn “Kate” Barr of Streator; a son Robert “Bob” (Rene) Barr of Streator and a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Ted) Broedlow of Streator; grandchildren, Megan Broedlow of Morton, Alexis Broedlow of Chicago, Sophia Broedlow of Streator, Nolan Barr of Streator and Alexa Barr of Streator.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Barr Jr; and a sister, Beverly Aulabaugh.

Born and raised in Streator he attended Sherman Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in 1956. In 1960 he enlisted in the United States National Guard. He worked for Thatcher’s Glass Manufacturing for 39 years in the maintenance repair department. He later worked for Illinois State University as a building service worker for 11 years until his retirement.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and an animal lover. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will dearly missed by his loving family.
