Robert W. Bartman

Robert W. Bartman, 84, of Streator passed away Tuesday, March 2. 2021 at Parker Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Streator.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Fr. Ryan Mattingly will officiate.

Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.

Born August 31, 1936 in Battle Creek, Nebraska he was the son of William and Christine (Elmer) Bartman. He married Barbara Mehock on October 7, 1961. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2007.

He is survived by sons, Terry (Jamie) Bartman of Streator and Kevin (Karen) Bartman of Arnold, Missouri; grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew and Christopher Bartman; and his twin sister, Betty Pickering of Melbourne, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Evelyn Novotney and Mary Lee Timperly; and brothers, Bill and Don Bartman.

Born and raised in Nebraska Bob moved to Illinois in his childhood. He attended high school in the Princeton area.

He worked through the years as the General Manager at International Harvester in Streator. He later worked for J Merle Jones in Ottawa as a Service Manager until his retirement.

He was a member of the former Immaculate Conception Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790.

Bob was a talented fisherman and a jack of all trades. He could do just about anything around the house when it came to plumbing, electrical or even light construction.

Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society, American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
