Robert Black Obituary

  Robert E. Black, 98, of Grand Ridge passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at O.S.F. Center for Health – Streator.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 20th at St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday, March 19th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  The rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.

  Burial will be in Lostlands Cemetery in Eagle Township.  Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Jason, Nathan, Austin, Cody and Dalton Black; Jonathan LaValle and Dax Unz.  Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Nicole and Alexis Black; Stacy Malburg and Alexandria Pfalzgraf.

  Born June 30, 1925 in Streator he was the son of Clem and Effie (Mitchell) Black.  He married Dolores Fedash on September 23, 1950.

  He is survived by his wife, Dolores Black of Grand Ridge; daughters, Diane Black of Tinley Park and Linda Pfalzgraf of Streator; sons, Dave (Virg) Black of Streator and Bob (Marla) Black of Streator;10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheryl Vogel; a son, James “Jimmy” Black; siblings, Marie Lehr, Dorothy Connolly, Irene Arkels, Catherine Poundstone, Glen Black, Vera Rowe, Mabel Cole, Roger Black, Richard Black and Maxine Bennett; and one sibling in infancy.

  Born and raised in Grand Ridge he attended a small country grade school.

  He served in the United States National Guard.

  Bob spent his lifetime farming in the Grand Ridge area.

  He was a member of the former B.V.M Eagle Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.  He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790.

  He loved playing Euchre and maintaining the family farm.  He will be dearly missed by many including JJ the farm dog.

  Memorials may be directed to the Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
