Robert W. Elias Sr.

  Robert W. Elias, Sr. 89, of Streator passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at his residence in Streator.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born May 31, 1932 in Streator he was the son of John and Mary (Kolesar) Elias.  He was married to Phyllis Roberts.  She preceded him in death in 1989.  He later married Stella Wright.  She preceded him in death in 2019.

  He is survived by sons, Robert (Francie) Elias Jr., of Streator, Steven Elias of Gridley and Donald Elias of Streator; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by his wives; a daughter, Luanne Martin; a stepson, Edward Wright; sisters, Annette Hatzer, Betty Louis, Eva Kauth, Lucille Rogers, Marlene Roberts and Yvonne Ratliff; brothers, Louis, Donald, and  John “Jack” Elias and stepdaughter; Barbara Davidson.

  Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and Streator High School.

  He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

  He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 42 years and later worked as a consultant for Owens.

  He was a member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.  He was also a member of the George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790, Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, the AMVETS and the Streator Eagles Club.

  Memorials may be directed to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
