Robert L. Keen, 98, of Streator passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, Illinois.
Private family funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery, Streator. The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Born April 30, 1927 in LaSalle he was the son of Nelson and Ozella (Doty) Keen. He married Shirlye A. Mathison on August 3, 1963. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2007.
He is survived by a daughter, Leann Liptak of Streator; a son, Robert (Tina) Keen of Streator; grandchildren, Shelby (Mark) Carlson of Streator, Taylee (Pierce Allord) Keen of South Carolina, Mandy (Scott) Rick of Louisville, Kentucky, Rick Cripe of Streator and Jenny (Jim) Pottala of Texas; great grandchildren, Maddy, Evan and Charlee Kreitzer; Millie Rick, Gianna and Carmela Carlson; Jimmy, Brayden and Brodie Pottala; a sister, Janet (Jerry) Pecchio of Granville; nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter, Cory Kreitzer; step-daughter, Irene Cripe; sisters, Sue Martin, Renie Miller and Doris Russ; and a brother, James Keen.
He attended Deer Park Grade School and graduated from Hopkins High School in Granville.
He served in the United States Army during WW II. While in the service he spent time in Guam.
He worked for Owens Illinois Glass Company for 19 years and later worked for Myers Sherman (Peabody Myers) until his retirement in 1989.
He was a member of Central Church of Christ, Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Streator Eagles Club.
Through the years Bob enjoyed golfing and gardening. He had a green thumb and could grow anything. In recent years he also enjoyed doing crosswords and puzzles.
