Robert F. Lorey, 90, of Streator passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023 surrounded by family at his residence in Streator.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 18th at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Streator. Rev. Bill Callister will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Friday, August 18th at the church. Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private family burial will be held at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Streator. Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Born August 27, 1932, he was the son of Fred and Emily (Hawkins) Lorey. He married Barbara F. Moravek on December 5, 1954 at Hickem Air Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. She preceded him in death on June 26. 2020.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Richard) Hanson and Karen (Ed) Davis, both of Streator; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a sister, Linda (Jim) Freehill of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; sister, Barbara Romeiser; brother, Ronald Lorey; sister-in-law, Sally Lorey and his stepfather, George Bedeker.
Born and raised in Streator, he attended Streator Grade Schools and graduated from Streator High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Over the years, he worked as a brick mason, a plant supervisor for Smith-Douglas Fertilizer and retired as a custodian for Streator High School in 1996.
Robert was a member of Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, a former member of the Streator Elks Club and was active in Boy Scouts and St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman. He also enjoyed singing in the church choir and barbershop quartet. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
