Robert “Bob” L. Meyers, 77, of Streator passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his son’s home in Seneca.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Rodney Kreier will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Moon Point Cemetery in rural Streator. Full military honors will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born August 16, 1943 in Streator he was the son of Ralph and Olive (Robinson) Meyers. He married Julia Smith on March 13, 1969. She preceded him death.
He is survived by children, Scott (Rhonda Pollman) Meyers of Streator, Joel (Cheri) Meyers of Streator and Brian (Niki) Meyers of Seneca; grandchildren, Thadius Meyers of Bloomington, Cameron and Madyson Meyers of Streator; Chelsea, Mylee and Franki Meyers of Seneca; great grandchildren, Judd, Carter, T.J. and Nala of Seneca; a brother, Dale (Nancy) Meyers of Rochelle a sister, Judy (Don Henderson) Ciaccio of Rockford; and a special friend, Pam Coates-Meyers of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joy Dean and his step father, Clint Madden.
Born and raised in Streator he attended Streator Grade Schools and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1961.
After High School he served in the United States Army.
He worked through the years for Anthony Company, Owens Illinois Glass and Caterpillar. He started working for IDOT in 1983 and worked there running the portable scales until his retirement in 2010.
He was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Streator and Grace Ministries in Spring Valley.
He was a member of the Streator Eagles Club and Anderson Fields Golf Course. He was a huge fitness buff through the years and enjoyed spending many hours at the YMCA doing various activities. The Y was a big part of his life.
He loved cars, especially hot rods, and motorcycles. He also loved the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls and professional Wrestling.
