Robert Pearson Obituary

  Robert L. Pearson, 83, of Streator passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 peacefully in his home surrounded by family.

  Funeral services will be private.  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator.  Full military rites will be accorded by members of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born May 27, 1941 in Streator he was the son of Karl and Mary (Novak) Pearson.  He married Patricia Taylor on October 8, 1966 at St. Stephen’s Church in Streator.  She preceded him in death on April 10, 2020.

  He is survived by daughters, Joanna (Toby) Ristau of Ottawa, Jenny (Michael) Hoekstra of Manville and Lora (Robert) Pratt of Streator; a son, Robert E. (Melody) Pearson of Streator; grandchildren, Taylor Komater, Haley Hoekstra, Nicholas Hoekstra, Nolan Pratt and Emily Pratt; sisters, Rosemary (Dan) Dudak of Streator, Jean Anne Allen of Florida, Mary Jane Patton of Streator and Darlene Hallam of Florida; and a brother, Charles (Patricia) Pearson of Wisconsin.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and a brother, David Pearson.

  Born and raised in Streator he graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1959.

  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He served three years in El Paso Texas.

  He worked at Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing for 49 years in the Shipping Department.

  He was a member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. 

  Bob was an avid fisherman and belonged to the Lazy Acres Sportsmen’s Club.  He enjoyed family fishing trips to Hayward Wisconsin and turtle hunting with his brother and dad through the years.  He was also an avid weight lifter throughout his life.  He enjoyed sitting on his front porch and visiting with family.

  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Streatorland Food Pantry.
