Robert J. Washko

Robert J. “Uncle Bobby” Washko, 87, of Streator passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Heritage Health Therapy and Rehabilitation in Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 A.M. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator. Rev. Fr. Raymond Guthrie will officiate.

Visitation will be from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Ray Soltis, Adam Soltis and Billy Missel; Ron Washko, Rick Washko and Matt Washko.

Born September 5, 1929 in Streator he was the son of John and Julie (Estock) Washko. He married Irene Giombi on December 22, 1969. She preceded him in death on January 8, 1997.

He is survived by a sister, Monica (Earl) Oak of South Carolina; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephew also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Rita Washko, Lucille Martin, Evelyn McCauley, Irene Sisk Evers and Viola Walsworth; and brothers, Eugene, George, John, Frank, Albert and Richard Washko.

Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Stephen’s Grade School.

Robert owned and operated, along with his family, Washko’s Bargain Store and later House of Furniture for over 45 years.

He was a long time member of the former St. Stephen’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
