Rodney L. Vickers, 58, of Streator passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 16th at the Central Church of Christ, Streator. Rev. Paul Webster will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, October 15th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Streator. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Mike, Luke, Jake and Jonathan Vickers; Hunter Merritt and Devin Ferko.
Born January 12, 1965 in Streator he was the son of Buckley and Elsie (Handley) Vickers. He married Jennifer Goddard on November 23, 1991 at Immaculate Conception Church in Streator.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Vickers of Streator; sons, McKinley “Mac” Vickers of Peoria and Mitchell Vickers of Streator; a daughter, Marisa Vickers of Streator; his father, Buckley Vickers of Streator; sisters, Debbie (Dale) Adams of Dwight and Karen (Ron) Merritt of Downs; brothers, Gary (Vicki) Vickers of Streator, Steve (Sue) Vickers of Grand Ridge and Kevin (Kelly) Vickers of Streator; his mother in law, Shirley Goddard of Streator; sister in laws, Lori Goddard of Manville, Karyn (Kip) Goddard-Roloff of Putnam and Amy (Toby) Coates of Pontiac; many nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Vickers and his father in law, William Goddard.
Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Mary’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1983. He later earned his Associates Degree from Illinois Valley Community College.
He worked through the years for Exelon LaSalle Station as an Engineer.
He was a member of the former St. Anthony Church and St. Mary of Fields in Grand Ridge. He was currently attending the Central Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council #790.
Rodney’s family always came first to him. He spent a lot of his free time coaching his kids various sports including baseball, basketball, soccer and tee ball. He also enjoyed family outings on Lake Wildwood boating and fishing with the family. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother and will be dearly missed by his family.
Memorials may be directed to the Central Church of Christ or the Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
