“‘Loves to dance” was her email address. It was fitting. She had scarlet fever as a child, and the doctor suggested dancing to strengthen her heart. Dance became her lifelong love, and she had a heart that would not give up. It was big and kind and generous, and she shared it with her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, relatives, and friends. She loved us all, and we all loved her. She meant the world to us.
Rosemary passed away peacefully at her son’s home. He and his partner cared for her in her final weeks, and she was surrounded with the love and care of her family and friends.
She loved old black and white movies. They weren’t old to her, they were what she grew up with; the hair, the clothes, the glamour and romance of the 40s – her childhood and teen years.
In her adult life she was a beautician, a bank teller, and a business owner. She loved to sew, paint ceramics, create a beautiful home, and of course, dance.
Rosemary was born on Valentine's Day, 1934 and died on April 8th 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Helen Dougherty, sisters Maxine (Maggie) Brennan, Virginia (Jeanie) Dougherty, niece LeAnna Maul, and her ex-husband William (Bill) Austin.
She is survived by her children, Mark Austin (Jody Doran) and Linda Austin; grandchild Jay Austin (Vanessa Huff Austin); great- grandchildren Justice Austin (Mikaylah Burris) and Alyssa Pilmer (Andrew Irwin); great-great grandsons Abel and Aris Irwin; niece and nephew Diane Frye (Nick Baccile) and Gary Frye (Marge Frye); great nieces Maggie and Jennifer Frye; and lifelong friends.
Her memorial service will be held by Solon-Telford from 12-2pm on September 16, 2023, with burial following at Riverview Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Chippers afterward.
