Obituary

Rosemary Johnson, 93, of Long Point passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Streator.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

Burial will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Streator. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Born September 28, 1927 in Streator she was the daughter of George and Bridget (Price) Delheimer. She married Irwin Johnson on April 12, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Church in Cornell. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by children, Richard (Shun Berry) Johnson of Schaumburg, Susan (Thomas) Kovacs of Schaumburg and Valerie (Kevin) Gray of Long Point; grandchildren, Erin (Andre) Braxton, Dustin (Amal Shaar) Johnson, Megan Kovacs, Christopher (Abby) Zeimetz, Dallas (Serena Tyler) Gray, Niki (RJ) Zborowski, Robert Gray and Todd Gray; great grandchildren, Devin Gray, Daltin Austin, Addy Gray, Nolan Gray and Joey Zborowski.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her children, John “Jak” Johnson and Kristine Johnson-Zeimetz; sisters, Ruth Guditis and Helen Pleasant; and brothers, Raymond, Walter, Cletus, George and Bernard Delheimer.

She attended Cornell Grade School and graduated from Cornell High School in the class of 1945.

In the early years she worked for Streator National Bank, Valley View Restaurant as the manager and as the head cook for Cornell Grade School. She later managed the Lab at St. Mary’s Hospital retiring in 1990.

Through the years she was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Cornell, St. Casimir’s Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of her church.

She lived in Cornell until 2006 when she moved to El Paso until 2016 when she moved to Long Point.

Rosemary enjoyed playing cards, golfing, entertaining her lab gang, watching the Bears and was an avid reader. She loved being with her family and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
