Samuel Thomas

  Samuel Thomas, 88, of Streator passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at O.S.F. St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

  Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. Friday, November 10th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Friday, November 10th at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

  Born October 2, 1935 in Riley, Kentucky he was the son of William and Goldie (Smothers) Thomas.  He married Kristine Harcharik on April 24, 1975.

  He is survived by his wife, Kristine Thomas of Streator; a son, Marc (Trina) Thomas of Bloomington; grandchildren, Henry and Fallon Thomas both of Bloomington; and sisters, Vivian (Mike) Davis of Marseilles and Faye Colvin of Kentucky.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Steve Thomas and Jerry Thomas; sisters, Mildred Gillenwater, Jean Underwood, Jeri Rotramel, Charlotte Ottens and Irene Thomas; and brothers, Glen, Carl and Jim Thomas.

  Born and raised in Kentucky he located to the Marseilles and Streator area after high school.

  He worked in construction for many years working out of the Local 393 Laborer’s Union.  He also worked as a bartender through the years at various locations including Tim’s Tap in Marseilles in his retirement.
