Sandra J. Sherman-Benning

  Sandra J. Sherman-Benning, 84, of Streator passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at her residence.

  There will be no funeral services.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  The Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born August 26, 1939 in Spring Valley she was the daughter of Leonard and Anna (Kursock) Marliere.  She was previously married Harold Charles “Chuck” Sherman, Philip Verdiramo, Jim Hayward and Joseph Benning.  They preceded her in death.

  She is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” (Janet) Sherman of Streator; grandchildren, Heather (Brad Barker) Sherman of Streator, Charles (Sarah) Sherman of Streator and Michelle (Tony) Drysdale of Streator; great grandchildren, Noah Girard, Aubrey Willey and Olivia Willey.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Marliere and a sister, Donna Guynn.

  Born and raised in Spring Valley she attended local grade schools and graduated from Hall High School.

  She worked for Owens Illinois Glass Manufacturing for 19 years as a carton maker.

  She was formerly a member of the St. Margaret’s Church in Spring Valley and the Streator Eagles Club.

  Sandy loved playing Bingo and Euchre through the years with her friends.

  Memorials may be directed to charity of the donor’s choice.
