Sandra Spencer Obituary

Sandra M. Spencer, 79, of Streator passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 at Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Flanagan.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Rodney Kreier will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Additional visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Tyler Wright, Trevon Spencer and Jarrett Spencer; and nephews, Nathan Grau, Brian and Eric Neitzel.

Born January 15, 1941 in Streator she was the daughter of William and Helen (Vissering) Grau. She married John “Jack” Spencer on November 23, 1963 in Flanagan.

She is survived by her husband, John “Jack” Spencer of Flanagan; a son, Randy (Pam) Spencer of Streator; grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Wright of Streator, Trevon Spencer of Princeton and Jarrett Spencer of Streator; great grandchildren, Sydney, Sophie and Bowen Wright; sisters, Carole (Ron) Neitzel of Streator and Karen (Joe) Stoller of Normal; and a brother, Gary (Wilma) Grau of Flanagan; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Born in Streator she was raised in the Flanagan area. She attended Flanagan High School.

She worked for Streator National Bank as a teller for 44 years retiring in 2003.

Through the years she and her husband Jack traveled extensively throughout the United States in their Motorhome. They also enjoyed traveling to Europe on several trips and celebrated their 50th anniversary with an Alaskan cruise. She especially enjoyed spending more time taking care of her grandchildren after retirement.

She and Jack were active with the Streator Community Youth Program helping to plan and run the Easter Egg Hunt each year.

She loved traveling, cooking, reading, crocheting, NASCAR and doing puzzles. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
