Shannon L. Thompson

  Shannon L. Thompson, 51, of Streator passed away Friday, November 17, 2023 at UI Health in Chicago, Illinois.

  To honor Shannon’s wishes a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 22nd at St. Mary’s of the Fields Church in Grand Ridge. 

  The family will greet friends at a funeral luncheon at the Knights of Columbus in Streator following the Mass.

  Born August 19, 1972 in Streator, she was the daughter of James and Danielle (Uratchko) Thompson. 

  She is survived by her parents, James and Danielle Thompson of Streator; her son, Nick Yanello of Mesa, Arizona; a brother, Brandon (Dustie) Thompson of Ransom; nephews, Lane (Brooklyn) Thompson of Batavia and Wyatt Thompson of Ransom; her fiancé, Matthew Kerper of Streator; she was also survived by several other aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Daniel and Doris Uratchko and her paternal grandparents, Warren and Wynona Thompson.

  Born and raised in Streator she attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1990.

  She worked for Constellation Energy (formerly Exelon) for 29 years.

  She was of the Catholic faith and also belonged to the Streator Kiwanis Club.

  Shannon was a loving mother, daughter and friend who always looked out for everyone and was willing to help anyone who needed it.  She loved her cats and taking care of them as well.  She will be dearly missed by her loving family.  Soar with the angels Shan T.
