Shirley A. Tinder

  Shirley A. Tinder, 87, of Streator passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at O.S.F. St. James Medical Center in Pontiac.

  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  Solon-Telford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  Born April 22, 1935 in Conrath, Wisconsin she was the daughter of Arthur and Bessie (Bayer) Nickoley.  She married Gary R. Tinder on January 23, 1954 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin.  He preceded her in death on March 29, 2014.

  She is survived by a daughter, Erin (Greg Otto) Klein of Streator; sons, Jed Tinder of Osh Kosh, Wisconsin, Richard “Rick” (Tracy) Tinder of Tierra Verde, Florida and Charles "Chip" (Kimberly) Tinder of Waukesha Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister in law, Jeannette Tinder of Streator and a niece, Reyne Tinder of Streator.

  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Ila Grendahl; and brothers in law, Fred Grendahl and Roger Tinder.

  Born and raised in Wisconsin she graduated from Ladysmith High School in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. 

  She has lived in Streator for many years.

  She worked through the years for St. Mary’s Hospital as well as owning and operating the Oakley Inn Tavern along with her husband.

  Through the years she enjoyed traveling to the family’s cabin in Wisconsin.  She was also an avid Wisconsin sports fan cheering on her Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks.
