Thomas Baker Obituary

Thomas D. “Tom” Baker, 74, of Streator passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at his residence in Streator.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator. Rev. Anne Ferguson will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.
Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Streator.
Born November 7, 1946 in Streator he was the son of Donald and Vera (Jonen) Baker. He married Marion Coley on November 26, 1966 in Streator. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2010.
He is survived by a daughter, Jodee Baker of Streator; a son, Greg (Heather) Baker of Streator; grandchildren, Blake (Megan) Baker, Regan Baker, Chloe Baker, Max Baker, Quinn Baker; Devin Lee and Luke Lee; great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Jax Baker; sisters, Carol Mance of Streator, Donna Bandura of Danville, Kentucky and Becky (Ron) Blue of Streator; and a brother, Tim (Mary Beth) Baker of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Baker in 1986; a son, Todd Baker in 2014; sisters, Janet Mehalic and Mary Kay Hoffmeyer; a brother, David “Art” Baker; and a nephew, Michael Mance.
Born and raised in Streator he attended St. Anthony Grade School and graduated from Streator High School in the class of 1965.
He worked for US Food Service (formerly I.F.P.) as a Territory Manager from 1978 until his retirement in 2011. Tom enjoyed a long, successful career having earned Salesman of the Year. He made many long lasting friendships with his customers through the years.
He was a member of the Msgr. George A. Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council # 790.
Tom dealt with the trials in his life with dignity and grace. He was a man of great integrity and was a quiet leader that his family always knew they could count on. A very proud Papa to his grandchildren, he would spend countless hours following them to all their various sports and other activities. He will be dearly missed by his loving family.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the SHS Class of 1991 scholarship fund.
