Tina Black Obituary

  Tina Marie Black, lifelong resident of Streator, entered into eternal rest, Monday, October 30, 2023 at OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa at the age of 62.  She had recently been diagnosed with cancer and faced her foe with grace, courage and dignity, but the complications of the disease were far too fierce.

  Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 2nd at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.  Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

  Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, November 1st at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home, Streator.

  Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be Keith Dye; her children, Jason and Nathan Black; grandchildren, Jacob, Jaron, and Jorrick Black.

  She was born in Streator, Illinois on October 13, 1961 to George and Mary Grace (Elias) Gula.  She was a graduate of Streator High School and was a longtime employee at St. Mary’s Hospital until they closed food service. Tina was currently working at Northlawn Junior High School helping to feed the children of the elementary schools and enjoyed her coworkers as well as the students each and every day.  She also was a staple at Kangley Inn for years for all of their patrons.

  Tina was the loving and devoted mother to Jason (Megan) and Nathan.  Her pride & joy were her four grandchildren, Jacob, Jaron, Jorrick & Kieran, as well as her two four legged grandsons, Bentley and Ryker, she would light up just talking about them all.  She treasured and embraced every moment with her family.  She will be remembered as selfless, committed & hard working, with a quiet strength.

  Tina was preceded in death by her father, George, as well as her brother, George; and a brother in law, John Hrasch.  She is survived by her mom, Mary Grace Gula of Streator; devoted loving partner of over 17 years, Keith Dye of Kangley, her sons, Jason (Megan) Black of Grand Ridge and Nathan Black of Utica, grandchildren, Jacob, Jaron, Jorrick and Kieran Black, all of Streator;siblings, Diane (Pat) Kelly of Streator, Jan Hrasch of Streator, Barb (Brian) Watson of Streator,  Ken (Jean) Gula of Streator and Gary (Trisha) Gula of Dewey, Illinois, a sister in law, Barb Gula of Wenona; many nieces and nephews also survive.
